Erongo Eye Institute

Dr. Johan Benade qualified in Ophthalmology in Bloemfontein in 1979. He started private practice in Bloemfontein from 1980 to 1991. He moved to Port Elizabeth in 1991 and serves as a Director of the Port Elizabeth Eye and Laser Institute. He is a member of the Medical Association of SA and Namibia, as well as the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa.

After taking over Dr Willie Schwindack's practice in Swakopmund in August 2011, he has ceased to practice in South Africa. Dr Benade has a special interest in Diabetes, Glaucoma, Cataract, Refractive lenses and Eyelid surgery. He operates in Walvis Bay at Welwitschia Hospital using the latest techniques and modern technology at the hospital's dedicated Eye Theatre.

He has participated in various Clinical trials and regularly attends Congresses nationally and internationally.
